The job market is not what used to be and I don’t think it ever will be again. With unemployment at about 10%, I think your best bet is to find a service that someone needs and to try to provide it at a cost. That is easy to say when you are working. The company I work for has downsized and I just don’t see them hiring anytime soon.

Businesses have learned to become more efficient and are making better use of their resources that they already have at their disposal. It should also be the same in our personal lives. Not being prepared financially for an emergency and having credit card debt can be two of the biggest financial stumbling blocks. Credit card companies are required to follow new guidelines, but that has not stopped many lenders from raising interest rates, lowering credit limits and cancelling credit card accounts completely.

The best way to avoid any of these inconveniences is to not have to rely on credit card companies at all. Set some money back for emergencies and eliminate credit card debt as quickly as possible. You may also want to give some thought to what you would do if you suddenly became unemployed. If you can start a business that you can run in your spare time, you will be well on your way to gaining financial security.
